How To Grow Your Instagram Followers

“It all starts with what I call the ‘Four Pillars of Instagram’ which consists of:
– Content
– Consistency
– Market Research
– Networking
This can apply to any platform, really. But since my stronghold is Instagram, it’s worked for me here.”

Josue speaking about the importance of Instagram content: “When it comes to content for Instagram, you need to think of it as a billboard or magazine – your content needs to have purpose; it needs to be relatable to your desired audience. If you have fitness page, it needs to have content related to fitness, for example. You need to be giving value to your audience. After all, that is what they follow you for. Don’t be posting random images. Your content also needs to wrap around what you’re trying to do. If you need to build brand awareness, then you need to provide value. If you wish to sell, then your content should be driving traffic to a link or a store. The importance of content can’t be stressed enough.”

Josue speaking about consistency with Instagram: “I would say that consistency would be the one thing that will get you results overnight if you haven’t been doing it for a while. A general rule of thumb on Instagram – the more you post, the more you grow. But remember that the content has to be relevant and have purpose to your audience. Be in your audience’s space as much as possible.”

About scheduling on Instagram: “Personally, I post between 3 and 6 times a day, as I have multiple accounts that I work with. What I would recommend is put reminders in place to post. Another tip would be to create content and save them as drafts. That way, when your reminders kick in, you can simply post the draft at the appropriate time. Another thing to keep in mind is to stay clear of apps that can automatically post for you – Instagram doesn’t work well with automation in that regard.”

Three pieces of advice from Josue Pena for Entrepreneurs

“Firstly, you don’t need a lot of followers on Instagram in order to make money – that’s a HUGE misconception. You literally only need 1 person in order to make money. As long as you give value, and put your face behind the brand – you don’t even need to use your own face. But you have to be honest and transparent. It also helps to use Instagram stories correctly – post relevant content.”
