Three Pieces of Advice From Joscelyn Duffy

My first piece of advice would be presence. I find it important to be sufficiently present enough to give the people you work with the support that they need. The second piece of advice? Make your work and clients personal. Show interest in your clients. Don’t just be present with them; really express an interest in who they are, what they do and your relationship.

My final piece of advice falls under persistence and not giving up. Don’t give up so easily if you’re facing obstacles. Take it from me, being diagnosed with lupus, confined to a bed, and doomed to die. I didn’t give up my fight and bounced back – neither should you. Don’t be afraid to connect with people who you may need support from. But also remember to go easy on yourself; we can only do so much, with all that is going on in life, with work and our families.
